Kat is excited about the opportunity to be in partnership with Collegiate Coaching Services. Kat is a clinical supervisor for the CCS team. Throughout the years, Kat has served CCS in three capacities—as a therapeutic coach, parent coach, and therapist. Kat has developed an expertise in each of the roles over the last 11 years working in the mental health field. Kat earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in couples and family therapy from the University of Colorado at Denver. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#1085), a Licensed Professional Counselor (#6179), and a Licensed Addiction Counselor (#213). Kat has specific training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) a therapy used for resolving the impacts of trauma, addiction, and performance enhancement. Kat is also trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT).
Throughout Kat’s time in practice, she has focused on working with adolescents and young adults. She has worked in an array of settings ranging from residential programs, group homes, transitional living programs, outpatient, and for Boulder County Drug Courts. Currently, Kat has a private practice in Boulder, Colorado. Her practice opened in 2009 and has been growing since. Kat specializes in the treatment of adolescents and young adult clients with impulse control issues such as substance abuse disorders, eating disorders, and self-harming issues. Kat’s practice is also focused on family and couples therapy, as she believes that a clients issues’ cannot be resolved without changing parts of the family system. She is happy to collaborate with the CCS team as a contractor through her practice.
Kat has been in a supervisory role is several capacities. In 2011, Kat became the Clinical Supervisor for the Denver Colorado AIDS Project. Kat supervises all the counseling staff at DCAP, including the internship program. She also provides clinical supervision and consultation for the other programs (case management and prevention). Kat is an honorarium supervisor at the University of Colorado at Denver Counseling Center. She provides supervision and consultation for graduate students in the Counseling Psychology program and UCD.
Kat has lived in Boulder since 1997 and loves it. In Kat’s free time, she loves being with her two sons and husband. Kat loves being outdoors and playing in the Colorado wilderness!
