Brett, a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and couples, is pleased to partner with Collegiate Coaching Services. He has been fortunate to live and work in San Francisco, New York, and now in Boulder, CO. His specialties include: GLBTQ issues; eating, exercise, and body image disorders; substance abuse; technology addiction, anxiety and compulsive disorders, and trauma/PTSD.
Dr. Kennedy received his doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology with a specialized focus in health psychology. The mind/body connection to health and wellness cannot be ignored and he has built a diverse clinical practice where this relationship can be explored and healed through psychotherapy. He is educated and trained in psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and family systems modalities of treatment and is eclectic in his approach to psychotherapy.
Dr. Kennedy describes himself as an “engaging, opinionated, and socially conscious therapist whose approach to therapy is highly interactive.” He feels that having a sense of humor is critical to the work he does and that laughter can relieve pain and elevate us to new plateaus. By bringing synchronicity to our thoughts, feelings and actions, we can better understand ourselves, thrive in our relationships, and achieve a life in balance.
In his free time, Dr. Kennedy enjoys travel and embracing outdoor activities such as hiking, trail running, climbing, mountaineering, and cycling. He believes in giving back and offers pro-bono services for HealthRight International, a human rights organization, and as a disaster mental health volunteer with the American Red Cross. He also is the proud parent of an adopted, one-eyed Pomeranian named Paco who keeps him constantly entertained.
