Barb graduated in 1992 from Kent State University with a degree in Sociology and Psychology. Just after graduation, she pursued her interest in working with young people by accepting a position as a mentor for at risk youth and foster kids in the community for a year before becoming an assistant manager of a large training and boarding horse farm. There she was able to combine her love of riding, showing, and teaching kids and adults of all ages and abilities, how to ride and jump horses. Through this work, Barb’s interest in Veterinary medicine grew. In 1999 she moved from Ohio to Colorado to attend Bel-Rea Animal Institute to become a veterinary technician. In 2001, she finished at the top of her class, and completed the board exam to become a Certified Veterinary Technician in Colorado.
She worked at the largest non-profit facility in Denver for 6 years as a certified technician. Here she was a lead technician and manager, trained interning veterinarian technician students, and educated clients about the health of their pets. Her passion to help families, individuals, and their pet “family members” in the low-income community became rewarding by offering affordable care and education.
Prior to joining Markle Solutions, LLC and Collegiate Coaching Services, Barb worked for the largest distributor of animal health equipment and pharmaceuticals in the country at Butler Schein Animal Health as an outside sales territory manager in the Denver metro area. She successfully grew the business every year and helped over 200 Veterinarians achieve their business objectives.
She was recognized as one of the top performers in the industry due to her work ethic, business and product knowledge, customer care, and commitment to helping veterinarians manage a successful practice. Some of her outstanding achievements include Rookie of the Year two years in a row and the Top award in the company as Western Regional Sales Person of the Year.
Barb is excited to be in a leadership and business development role while supporting a service focused on inspiring and empowering young adults. Her expertise in client services, business management and marketing is a valuable asset to Markle Solutions and Collegiate Coaching Services.
When Barb is not working, she spends as much time as possible outdoors with friends, family and her dogs enjoying beautiful Colorado. Now retired as a competitive Mountain bike racer, she enjoys a more causal Mt. bike ride or road ride and trail running. In the winter you can find her skiing at Devil’s Thumb or Eldora.
