Will Graduated in 2008 from Grand Valley State University in Michigan with a Business Management degree, and the dream of starting his own business. However, before pursuing this dream, Will first moved to Colorado to pursue his passion of working with youth in the great outdoors. He was a summer camp-hiking counselor for two summers in Estes Park, a wilderness therapy field instructor for Second Nature Entrada in Sothern Utah for two years, and led urban youth from Denver into the mountains with Big City Mountaineers. Through these experiences he became inspired by the power of nature.
Will has been fortunate to be able to pursue his passion of the outdoors on a personal level as well. Taking 6 months in 2009 to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail and in 2013 to thru-hike the Pacific Crest Trail. While on these journeys it became clear to him that he must create a career around helping others become their best selves while incorporating the wilderness.
That’s where Collegiate Coaching Services comes in. Will first became aware of CCS when his girlfriend, now wife, started working with the company in 2011. Will was instantly impressed by the then small, emerging company doing such important work in the community. The more he learned about all CCS had to offer and how quickly it was growing he wanted to find a way to be involved but wasn’t quite ready to give up working in the wilderness. In early 2016, it was finally time for Will to pursue and gain experience on the “business” side of a growing small business. It just so happened CCS was searching for someone to support the business office and the program’s development and expansion. The stars aligned and Will quickly became a consistent fixture at the CCS offices ready for your call, supporting the program and the team, as well as keeping things organized at the office.
Will is grateful for the plethora of learning opportunities on a daily basis here at CCS and is looking forward to someday down the line combining his love for nature and dream of entrepreneurship into a reality.
